Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penerapan metode Ice Breaking terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas VI di Sekolah Dasar Negeri Dondong 03 Kesugihan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2022-2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan melibatkan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran Matematika dengan penerapan Ice Breaking, dan kelompok kontrol yang menerima pembelajaran Matematika tanpa Ice Breaking. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik SD Negeri Dondong 03 tahun pelajaran 2022/2023, dengan sampel berjumlah 16 peserta didik kelas VI yang dipilih berdasarkan nilai terendah rata-rata kelas. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Februari hingga April 2023. Tahap persiapan melibatkan pengurus surat izin penelitian dari Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Nahdhatul Ulama Al Ghazali, karakteristik populasi, penyusunan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) Matematika, dan penyusunan instrumen penelitian. Proses pelaksanaan penelitian melibatkan pre- test dan post-test pada kedua kelompok, dengan kelas eksperimen menerima perlakuan berupa pembelajaran Matematika dengan penerapan Ice Breaking, sedangkan kelas kontrol menerima pembelajaran Matematika tanpa Ice Breaking. Data hasil belajar peserta didik dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara terhadap guru, dan tes tertulis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji validitas dan reliabilitas, serta pengolahan data melalui perhitungan statistik, seperti uji t dan analisis kesukaran, daya pembeda, serta reliabilitas instrumen.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Ice Breaking memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas VI. Hal ini terbukti dari uji wilcoxon yang menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0,011 dan 0,01, lebih kecil dari 0,05. Implikasi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ice Breaking dapat menjadi strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan partisipasi peserta didik, memperbaiki pemahaman materi pelajaran, dan menguatkan keterampilan sosial peserta didik. Oleh karena itu, disarankan adanya pelatihan untuk guru, penelitian lanjutan, integrasi Ice Breaking dalam kurikulum, dan program pengembangan keterampilan sosial untuk memaksimalkan manfaat metode ini dalam proses pembelajaran.

This research was conducted to evaluate the impact of the Ice Breaking method on the learning outcomes of sixth-grade students at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Dondong 03 Kesugihan in the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023. The research employed a quantitative approach involving two groups: the experimental group, receiving Mathematics instruction with the Ice Breaking method, and the control group, receiving Mathematics instruction without Ice Breaking. The study population comprised all students of SD Negeri Dondong 03 in the academic year 2022/2023, with a sample of 16 sixth-grade students selected based on the lowest average class scores. The research was conducted from February to April 2023.

The preparation phase included obtaining research permits from the Faculty of Education at Nahdhatul Ulama Al Ghazali University, understanding the population characteristics, developing Lesson Implementation Plans (RPP) for Mathematics, and creating research instruments. The research implementation involved pre-tests and post-tests for both groups, with the experimental group receiving Mathematics instruction with the Ice Breaking method and the control group receiving Mathematics instruction without Ice Breaking.

Data on student learning outcomes were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, and written tests. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, as well as statistical calculations such as t-tests and analyses of difficulty, discrimination, and instrument reliability.

The research results demonstrated that the application of Ice Breaking significantly influenced the improvement of learning outcomes for sixth-grade students. This was evident from the Wilcoxon test, which produced significance values of 0.011 and 0.01, both less than 0.05. The implications of the research indicate that Ice Breaking can be an effective strategy to enhance student participation, improve understanding of subject matter, and strengthen students' social skills. Therefore, it is recommended to provide teacher training, conduct further research, integrate Ice Breaking into the curriculum, and implement programs to develop students' social skills to maximize the benefits of this method in the learning process.
