Abstract
Prestasi kerja atau tingkat unjuk kerja boiler yang didapatkan dari perbandingan antara energi yang dipindahkan ke atau diserap oleh fluida kerja di dalam ketel dengan masukan energi kimia dari bahan bakar merupakan penjabaran dari efisiensi boiler. Penelitian ini membahas pengaruh nilai kehilangan kalor (heat loss) terhadap efisiensi boiler. Kandungan O2 pada gas buang yang terlalu banyak dapat mengakibatkan efisiensi menjadi turun. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada boiler dengan tipe water tube boiler milik PT Pertamina RU-IV Cilacap, dalam kondisi operasi dengan beban 83 ton/jam dan kapasitas 110 ton/jam. Kemudian untuk mengetahui nilai efisiensi boiler dilakukan perhitungan dengan Metode Tidak Langsung untuk mengetahui nilai heat loss dan efisiensi boiler. Berdasarkan data dalam rentang waktu penelitian, parameter yang diteliti yaitu kadar persentase kandungan O2 pada flue gas masih dalam kondisi yang baik yaitu berkisar antara 3.20 % hingga 3.60 %. Diperlukan analysis ultimate dari bahan bakar dan hasil analisis pada bagian gas buang dari cerobong bejana tekan. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan efisiensi metode tidak langsung rata rata sebesar 84.77% maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa efisiensi 052 B 101 masih sangat tinggi dan layak dioperasikan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan steam di dalam proses produksi.

The performance of a boiler, or its operational efficiency, is determined by comparing the energy transferred to or absorbed by the working fluid inside the boiler with the chemical energy input from the fuel. This comparison serves as an elucidation of boiler efficiency. This study explores the impact of heat loss on boiler efficiency. An excessive level of oxygen (O2) in the flue gas can result in a reduction in efficiency. The research was conducted on a water tube boiler owned by PT Pertamina RU-IV Cilacap, operating with a load of 83 tons per hour and a capacity of 110 tons per hour. Subsequently, to ascertain boiler efficiency, calculations were executed using the Indirect Method to determine both heat loss and overall boiler efficiency. Over the course of the research period, the parameter under investigation—namely, the percentage of O2 content in the flue gas—remained within an acceptable range, fluctuating between 3.20% and 3.60%. An ultimate fuel analysis is essential, along with an analysis of the exhaust gas from the chimney pressure vessel. Based on the average efficiency calculation using the indirect method, which yielded an efficiency rate of 84.77%, it can be concluded that the efficiency of boiler 052 B 101 remains exceptionally high and is well-suited for continued operation to meet the steam requirements of the production process.
